Experience Roker Pier in a new way and learn about Sunderland's rich maritime heritage.
Due to damage to Roker Pier from severe weather conditions the pier has been temporarily closed by Sunderland City Council. Gale force winds and huge waves washed away more than 100 metres of railings on the Pier, making it unsafe for public access.
Until the Pier has been assessed and made safe we have had to postpone the launch of Lighthouse tours.
We will be updating the website with information as we receive it and hope to be in a position to re-launch tours as soon as possible.
Roker Pier & Lighthouse is currently in the final stages of extensive restoration which began in 2012. Once the restoration is complete we will be opening the tunnel and lighthouse to the public for the first time in the structure's history.
Tours will explore the incredible history behind the construction of Roker Pier and the people involved. Visitors will be guided through the unique experience of walking the length of the pier tunnel before climbing steps to the top of the lighthouse to take in the incredible views.
We hope to launch public tours soon. To keep up to date with progress sign up to our newsletter and follow us on social media.
